dc.description.abstract | There has been a misunderstanding towards mourning in Islam that occurs especially among widows and generally the Bruneian society. As a result, this thesis focuses to discover information relating to the mourning of widows towards their lates husband according to Islam and what has been practiced by the Bruneian society. The methodology used in this thesis is the collection of data from written sources, such as the Quran and Sunnah and its explanations, literatures containing the sahabats’, tabi’in and tabi’ tabi’in opinions and speeches, the Shafiites’ jurisprudence literatures and contemporary fatwas including fatwa from The State Mufti of Brunei Darussalam, which an analysis is made to this sources to reach the objective of this thesis. Besides that, fieldwork about mourning in Brunei Darussalam is used to obtain more information which includes the survey’s results which have been distributed selectively among the Bruneian society. Some of the important findings include: influence in religious practice from the past colonists. Despite that, there are some improvements in mouring practices due to the strong influence and well understanding of Islam in this country nowadays. | en_US |
