Lack of understanding in the faraid knowledge causes some in the community to think that Islam is not fair because it differentiates between the male heirs and the female heirs. This study discusses the provision of Islamic heritance for women and shows that Islam also defends women’s right and proves that women are not oppressed under any circumstances and rejects any suspicions raised about the oppression of women by Islam. This research has been divided into 3 clauses. The first clause covers the definition of inheritance, pillars, conditions, reasons for inheritance, barriers in inheritance, proofs from the Qur'an, Sunnah and the consensus of scholars, as well as the wisdom of inheritance legislation. The second clause discusses the history of the position of women in the inheritance before the advent of Islam and its differences after the advent of Islam, the parts of the inheritance of women that have been prescribed by the syara’, and when it comes to certain circumstances. The third clause is an analysis of the level of understanding of the Bruneian society on women’s heritage.
