Abstract

This study discusses the the efforts of the Caliph during the reign of the Ottoman Empire in developing and advancing the Ottoman Empire at that time. Especially the efforts of Sultan Abdul Hamid II, the last Caliph in the Ottoman Empire who contributed a lot during his reign, mainly in terms of education. In short, many reforms have been done and more progress can be seen. He managed to develop several schools, universities and opposed modernity brought from the West. From now on, it is important for us to get to know it better, we know that history is always full of lessons. Abdul Hamid II and the time in which he ruled were gems full of experiences and lessons that have unfolded on the seabed of history. Sultan Abdul Hamid II were successed atleast in overcome the dilemma faced by the Ottoman Empire. He is one of the great leaders who is able to face the crisis to keep the pride and glory of the country in its best forms. Researcher used the history and descriptive approach to study on the history of the Ottoman Empire and the management of education during the time of Sultan Abdul Hamid II. In this research, it was divided into three chapters. In the first chapter in the history and upbringing of the Ottoman Empire. Then, in the second chapter of Sultan Abdul Hamid II and his life. In the third chapter, he succeeded in managing education in his wisdom.
