Abstract

This study was made to analyze how the first Mufti of Brunei, the late Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Seri Utama Dr. Awang Haji Ismail bin Omar Abdul Aziz and his rules in changing and developing the Islamic Education system through a fatwa issued by him. This scholarly writing also contains information about His Majesty Pehin in brief. Especially about his life, family, and the Education he found since childhood. How he was chosen to be the First Mufti of Brunei Darussalam and how his efforts in changing the lives of Bruneians who previously did not know much about religion until they knew religion more deeply. How Islam was easily spread with Islamic Education At that time and also how his fatwas were accepted and applied until today. His fatwas also succeeded in removing the sense of confusion faced by the community, especially the villagers and also the parents who did not know the things that should be known. And from this study, can also provide evidence of how this fatwa was issued and how the question of the fatwa reached him and secured the community.
