Abstract
Knowledge belongs to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala and He bestows high rank to His servants who have knowledge. Knowledge is capable of guiding people from darkness to bright light. On the other hand, the science of Umran is a concept invented by Ibn Khaldun to address the problems of society and the state for the purpose of development. The concept of Negara Zikir that was initiated by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di- Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam has in common with the science of Umran by Ibn Khaldun is the mission to aim for long lasting physical and spiritual prosperity in this world and hereafter. The author discusses at length the science of Umran to apply them in the context of Brunei Darussalam as a Negara Zikir. The first chapter includes the life of the founder, Ibn Khaldun, and the description of other terms that were associated with the word 'Umran, as well as a detailed explanation of the meaning of 'Umran and to place it in the accurate position. The second chapter specifically concerning the recognition and understanding of Negara Zikir in terms of language and terms. Then the third chapter is about the reflection of the Negara Zikir in Brunei Darussalam. The study ends with a conclusion and bibliography.
