Abstract

Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala forbid anyone to show their Aurat in front of whoever that are not halal or allowed for them so see. The limitation of the female Aurat is different in front of Mahram and Non-Mahram. Covering the Aurat is a command from Allah Subhanahu Wata’ala and it is mandatory for every Muslim to obey. The objective of this research is to gain knowledge on Aurat from the perspective of Fiqh Islam, and the Laws of Brunei, and to further find out how far the Bruneian society truly understand Aurat and its implementation in their life. There are three parts in this research, the first part comprises the meaning of Aurat, its evidence from Al-quran and Sunnah and the importance of covering Aurat. While the second part comprises of limitation of Aurat during prayer and outside of prayer and the third part outline the importance of Aurat among the Bruneian society including the formal attire of Brunei Darussalam, Aurat in the Penal code of Brunei and in Syariah Penal Code of Brunei Darussalam, lastly the researcher also summarizes Aurat and its implementation among Bruneian society. The writer uses the method of researching books from the ٤ Mazhabs, magazines and also through the internet to gain information for this academic writing. The writer also uses the method of field work, in term of spreading a survey through the internet do gain the information on this topic regarding the ideology of Aurat among the Bruneian community and to further investigate how far do the Bruneian community implied covering their Aurat. The result of this research is the increase of knowledge of Aurat in Islam and acknowledgment of the perception on Aurat and its implementation among Bruneian society on their daily life.
