Abstract
This study attempts to investigate the grammar performance of high school students in Brunei Arabic schools; it also tends to show studying Arabic grammar and learning it, in these schools. As such it will try to present the proposal competence in their grammar and their actual performance as the analysis error
shows. The research also investigates the student’s standard, as well as their success in learning Arabic grammar in these high Arabic schools. The study examines the student’s mistakes and the difficulties they face while learning Arabic grammar. The study also will examine the appropriateness of the curricula
and how to upgrade the acquisition and performance of the students in learning Arabic grammar. The importance of this study relies on the strategic guidelines already prepared by the Ministry Of Religious Affairs 2010-2014 for graduating intellectual generations of Arabic learners who are well qualified through the influential Arabic language teaching in these high Arabic schools. The researcher had adopted the methodology based on descriptive, analytical and assessment approach, using some series of interviews, visits, and analysis of documents, books, sources and tests so as to access good and reliable results of the study. For doing thus the researcher had unearthed various ideas during analyzing the information and data. The study has developed many important results which will help the student’s performance in studying and learning Arabic grammar. Hence, then the students can get better language production and avoid mistakes, and this will be reflected on listening, talking, writing and understanding skills. The institutions such as the ministry of religious affairs had given great attention to this article which is containing instructions in the six grades in secondary schools, basic and compulsory. The researcher had faced difficulties among his fraternity and in the application of this article, particularly in oral and written expression. This difficulty shows the decline performance of the students. Finally the results obtained from this research had provided the researcher with some appropriate recommendations and proposals to increase performance and improve the student’s grammar, especially in Arabic schools with modest contributions for the development of the Arabic language education in Brunei Darussalam.
