Abstract

The title of this study is about “Bid'ah in worship and its impact on the Bruneian community.” The aim of this study is to discuss in depth the meaning of BID„AH according to the meaning of Shafi'i scholars and BID„AH among the society. This is because the majority of the Brunei Darussalam population‟s faith is base on Sunnah Wal-Jamaah according to Imam Shafi'i. This research consists of four chapters: In the first chapter The writer also describes the meaning of Bi‟dah according to the Islamic laws, the mentions of BID„AH in Al-Quran Al-Karim and Hadiths also the difference between Bid'ah and method of “Masalih Mursalah”. In chapter two and three, the author will focuses on the definition about Brunei, the meaning of worship, and BID„AH related to Haj, tarawih prayers, night of Sha'ban, practice of Tahlil, reading the Al-Quran, reciting the Dzikr together with examples that relevant to the context in Brunei Darussalam. In the finals of this study, the author will provide outcome results from the survey that has been done. Hopefully this study will provide useful benefits for all of us. In Sha Allah.
