Abstract

Allah has created man/human being and ordered them to worship and devote themselves to Him with full sincerity. This command is found in various place inside the Holy Qur`an. The soul to all kind of worship and practice is sincerity. Without it, every practice will be rejected and wasted. Just like the condition of a body without its spirit, lifeless, smelly, and rotten, same goes to any worship done without sincerity. Worships which are detached from sincerity will be more damaged than the condition of damaged body that have lost its spirit. This is because, the value of a worship lies on the worshippers sincerity. The purpose of this writing/research is to explain the concept of sincerity in the Holy Qur`an, to summarize its concept according to the Modern Islamic Boarding School Gontor Indonesia in order to acknowledge the level of similarity between to be applied at order Islamic Institutions. This is a descriptive writing/research which rely on references that are taken from Islamic writing and reference books that are closely related with the concept of sincerity, such as Tafsir of The Holy Qur`an, books on Islamic Characters and conduct and other writings. As for the writing/research on understanding the concept of sincerity according to Modern Islamic Boarding School Gontor, the information gathered were from books, documents, school panels and interview with School`s worker. The method used by the writer to analyze the concept of sincerity in Modern Islamic Boarding School Gontor together with its application there and to access it according to the concept of sincerity exist in the Holy Qur`an is analysis and comparison. Through this research, it was found the concept of sincerity according to Modern Islamic Boarding School Gontor either theoretically of practically matched with the concept of sincerity in the Holy Qur`an in the specification of the meaning of sincere and the motivation to be sincere. As we all know, sincerity is an inner and hidden act of worship which is hard to detect and measure. They are a few academic signs that can be used to measure and evaluate sincerity. A sincere person will hasten in his work, work hard and ensuring the best quality from his work and more.
