Abstract
The issue of menstruation often debated by the contemporary Islamic scholars regarding on the changing nature of the cycle as it is vary to every women and also to clarify the current practice of women which often caused confusion especially in terms of its islamic ruling. This study aims to identify the perspective of the Islamic scholars about the irregular menstrual cycle and how this issue can arouse problems and possibilities that could affect the religious matter such as prayer and fasting. Therefore, the researcher follows the inductive and analytical approach to reach the objectives of this research; by inductive approach the researcher will be able to find the main factors that has the significant influence on the related Islamic ruling. Whereas, by analytical approach, it will helps the researcher to identify the Islamic scholar views upon the issue by referring to their books and writings and make comparison between them. The finding of this study shows that irregular menstrual cycle occur due to the influence of individual lifestyle in terms of diets and surroundings. The researcher also concludes that the main factors of arising issues on the relevant Islamic matters is due to the disagreements between the Islamic scholars regarding the valid days of blood discharge and its purity within the irregular menstruation cycle and also on the basis of difference in calculating the menstruation cycle period.
