dc.description.abstractThe objective of this study is to analyze some predominant social discourse in the Arabic modern press, with a particular emphasis on the daily Moroccan newspaper, Al-Alam. In this study the researcher has focused on different levels of linguistic analysis including syntax, morphology, and semantics. The researcher used the descriptive analytical method to observe and show justifications for the widespread of linguistic deviation of the social al Arabic discourse from the standard Arabic norms. The researcher selected the social discourse as a case study because of it’s noticeable linguistic deviations. The study shows that most of the errors are of syntax are due to due to the influence of translation as well dialect or slang on the style of newspaper writing. The researcher also made some pertinent observations regarding Al-Alam newspaper articles which usually coincide with the rules of Arabic language and the level of language used in the above newspaper is acceptable compared to other Arab media outlets. Finally, the study reveals that the modern Arabic press is in need of more efforts and support from official authorities so as to turn into a more progressive and an advanced medium, which is not relying on foreign terminology, slang in conveying its mission. This certainly will enhance the Arabic language and enhance the language of media discourse in particular.en_US
