dc.description.abstractHalal and non-halal in sustenance are one of the issues facing by the Brunei community even it is also happened in some of Muslim countries. Various food products have been sold in market but not all of them stated halal logos. It makes certain people in a doubt to buy because they did not know the status of the product either halal or non-halal. Therefore, this study needs to be conducted to resolve the issue through Ihya Ulumuddin's book so that people can differentiate between halal and non-halal more clearly especially in the sustenance. Furthermore, it has explained in details in regards to the ruling. Therefore, the aim of this study was to identify the Syafi’i scholar views on halal and non-halal foods as well as the view of Imam Ghazali. This study uses the library method to obtain the necessary information. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive methods. The results of this study have found that Imam Ghazali is agreed with the Syafi’i scholar in various aspects. However, Imam Ghazali and Syafi’i scholar also have their own opinion in deciding the ruling. This study is expected to help Bruneian in choosing halal foods and also to distinguish between halal and non halal.en_US
