Abstract

Islamic Dakwah Centre in Brunei Darussalam has always tried to help Muslims’ Converts to live as true Muslims. Various activities have been conducted to meet the needs of the new converts in spiritual, physical and materialistic ways. However they still feel dissatisfied at the assistance provided by the Islamic Dakwah Centre. This issue cannot be underestimated because it will give impact to the Muslim community including the Islamic Dakwah Centre itself. The Centre can be viewed negatively due to the lack of attention given to the Muslim Converts. Therefore this study was done to investigate the importance of this assistance to them as well as determining their dependence on this aid. Information and data have been collected by using the methodology of interviews and surveys. As a result, the majority of the Muslim Converts are highly dependent on aid in the form of spiritual guidance especially on religious programs conducted by the Islamic Dakwah Centre. Not only that, any form of material aid is also needed by some Muslim Converts regardless of their period of conversion to ensure that they will live confidently as a true Muslim throughout their lives.
