dc.description.abstract | This thesis discusses aspects of the family in the light of the Qur'an and Sunnah and the role of Al-Qur’an and Sunnah in shaping human behaviors in Brunei Darussalam. The research is divided into six chapters with an introduction and an epilogue. The purpose of this thesis is to outline the importance of family in shaping an individual's personality in particular and society in general. The first chapter titled Women and marriage in Islam, includes six topics. The first topic is the status of women in general. The second topic is the definition
of marriage and the wisdom of the legitimacy of marriage in Islam. And the third topic is the characteristics of marriage in Islam. The fourth topic is the rule of marriage in Islamic law. The next topic is the elements of marriage and the conditions and types. The sixth topic is the facts of marriage. The second chapter which is titled Regulations in building the family, includes seven topics. The first topic is the prohibition on a Muslim man marrying Al-Mushrikât (idolatresses, etc.). The second topic is legislative provisions in the marriage of a Muslim with the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians). The third topic is selection of good spouses. The fourth topic is the sermon. While the fifth topic is compatibility. This is followed by the sixth topic, the dowry. The seventh topic of this chapter is marriage. The third chapter, the concept of family and foundation to build a prosperous family, includes six topics. The first topic is the definition of family and its place in Islam. The next topic is the objectives of the family in Islam. The third topic is the family system in Islam. The fourth topic is the family’s duties and rights. The fifth topic is the causes of the problems and the loss of family. The last topic is fixing the problems according to Islam and the ethics of married life. The fourth chapter titled Models of the family in the Quran and Sunnah and history includes three topics: family models in the Quran, family models in
the Sunnah and family models in Islamic history. The fifth chapter, the role of family in education, includes four topics. The first topic is the definition of education, linguistically and idiomatically. The second topic is Islamic education. Followed by the third part, raising children with the Holy Quran and Sunnah. The fourth topic is education curriculum in Islam. The sixth chapter is a study of the family in Brunei Darussalam and it includes five topics: the role of the family in the human behavior in Brunei Darussalam, a study of the family before and after conversion to Islam in Brunei Darussalam, a study of the family in Brunei Darussalam and its problems, effects of the decline of family in Bruneian community and treating the problems found in Bruneian families. | en_US |
