Abstract
Covering the aurah is an obligation which was commanded by Allah SubÍÉnahu Wa Ta‘ÉlÉ for His ummah. Without any doubt, each of His commands has its own benefits for Muslims. It is the best to enforce to Muslim children about covering the aurah at the age of their puberty. Thus, this research aims to examine on to what extent does the implementation done by the secondary schools in prioritizing the obligation of covering the aurah among female students. To achieve the objectives of this research, the researcher used two types of data which include secondary data (library research) and primary data (fieldwork research). For fieldwork research, the data were collected through survey questionnaires that were distributed to female students. To support the data, interviews were also conducted with some teachers in various schools. Based on the main results: firstly: the findings of this study revealed that the secondary schools in Brunei have been doing some initiatives in implementing the religious education and activities, especially for the muslim female students. Furthermore, the students are also required to cover their aurah during their school hours. Secondly: this study also provides evidences that most of the students are “aware” on the importance and the benefits of covering aurah although majority of them are “unaware” of the concept of Muslim women’s clothing which has been prescribed in Islam. Thirdly: There are differences between the female students of the government and non government schools in their implementation of covering aurah in public places. This study is very significant as it will provide references and guidance to the Ministry of Education, schools, the teachers, as well as the parents and the students.
