Abstract: This study aims to identify the bilingual (Arabic-Malay) dictionaries specifications to recognize shared and individual characteristics of those dictionaries, and to identify the best bilingual (Arab-Malay) dictionaries through analysis and comparison, and to identify the best dictionary according to characteristics selected by students and teachers of Arabic schools. This study consisted of 2 main study techniques: descriptive and comparative analytical. The study starts with listing of bilingual (Arab-Malay) dictionaries specifications, which focus on the authors, printing and publications, and their main characteristics : reputation, outlook, structure, words and definitions and contents. The study proceeds with the comparison between bilingual (Arab-Malay) dictionaries specifications with the selection of the best characteristics of each graded category. The study will use analytical (statistical and applied) approach to later identify the best bilingual (Arab - Malay) dictionary according to the best characteristics of those dictionaries selected by students and teachers alike. The most important achievements of this study are identifying the best bilingual (Arab-Malay) for Arabic school students in Brunei Darussalam, identifying bilingual (Arab-Malay) specifications and identifying the most suitable bilingual (Arab-Malay) dictionary for students according to selected characteristics of those dictionaries by students and teachers of Arab schools.</description>

Abstract: This research aims at finding out the impact of learning the Holy Qur’an in the growth of the Arabic language to non-native speakers. It is a new study which links three areas: learning the Holy Qur’an, the growth of the Arabic language as a second language, and teaching Arabic language to non-native speakers. This study was done on the students of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Qur’an Memorization Institute in the Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam. In order to study the topic, observation, a survey questionnaire, interview and test were used. The data collected were analyzed and interpreted. The findings in this study interestingly reveal that there is a positive link between learning the Holy Qur’an and the growth of the Arabic language skills to the learners of non-native Arabic speakers. As it stated the impact of the Holy Qur’an on the teaching of Arabic language at the Institute of the Qur’an memorization, The researcher recommended to activate the role of the Qur'an in Arabic language teaching, and in desinging of curricula for Arabic language courses consistent with the Holy Quran subjects, and the need to take advantage of scientific researchs related to Qur'an, and employed it educationaly, and implement it in the practical life, with the benefit of expertise scientific and educational for teachers of the Quran and the Arabic language in the development of educational curricula linked to the Quran and Arabic language teachers to non-native speakers.</description>

Abstract: This research was held to find out and learn more about the history of when the Islam comes into Brunei Darussalam. In particular, or generally into Southeast Asian countries. The aim is to determine the impacts of the usage of Arabic Language ever since Islam arises in Brunei Darussalam. This kind of research can gives a lots of knowledge and idea especially among the students in Arabic schools about the impacts from the wide spread and expansion on using the Arabic Language in the country as soon as Islam arises. Other than that, the students may also learn the origins of Islam. This will gives great exposure to the students about Islam and the usage of Arabic Language. The coming of Islam into this country is the one who introduce Arabic Language to the people. This shows that the Arabic Language plays important role in Islam. The main reasons are because Arabic Language is the language of Islam, the language of paradise, and also the language of the Holy Quran. For the Muslim people in Brunei Darussalam, learning this Arabic Language is very necessary so that it can go along with the goals and vision to make Brunei Darussalam as a country of ‘Zikir’.</description>

Abstract: This study aims to identify the problems and difficulties faced by the students and teachers, in Arabic secondary schools in learning and teaching Arabic literature. It also attempts to investigate the factors causing the decline in student achievement in Arabic literature. The researcher has randomly selected respondents as samples of the study, consisting of (90) students from year 9 to year 11, and (10) teachers teaching Arabic literature in Arabic secondary schools in Brunei Darussalam. This study uses descriptive, analytical method of evaluation in its approach. The researcher has distributed a set of questionnaires to respondents and conducted interviews with the teachers who teach Arabic literature, officer in the curriculum section in Islamic studies department and skilled lecturers in Arabic literature to analyze data and obtain findings. Through this study, various findings have been obtained, for example, students are unable to understand the lessons and instead just memorize what was being taught. Also, students could not understand if the teacher gives explanation entirely in Arabic. The study also shows the view among teachers that some of the topics in the syllabus are not appropriate with students age, and some topics are difficult to understand. The study concludes by providing some recommendations and suggestions to increase the students’ performance in Arabic literature and improve teaching and learning Arabic literary in Arabic schools in Brunei Darussalam. In addition, it emphasizes a need to provide a more appropriate curriculum for Arabic literature in Arabic secondary schools.</description>
