Abstract
Virtual Reality (VR) technology has gained popularity in various industries, including retail, and it is essential to investigate its potential in improving online shopping experiences. The objective of this study is to determine whether the VR technology can be accepted by consumers in Brunei Darussalam and whether it can be used as a marketing tool in the online shopping platform. The research will use a mixed-method approach, which involves gathering both quantitative and qualitative data. The quantitative data will be collected through questionnaires from 384 consumers in the Brunei Muara district. In contrast, the qualitative data will be gathered through semistructured interviews with selected participants who shop online. These interviews will provide a more comprehensive understanding of the consumers' experiences and perceptions of using VR technology while online shopping. The research procedure includes analyzing the collected data using both statistical and thematic analysis techniques. The data will then be used to develop a prototype of a VR online shopping platform, which will be tested using a user acceptance testing method. The findings of this study are expected to contribute significantly to the understanding of how VR technology can enhance online shopping experiences. It is hoped that these findings will assist retailers in developing effective strategies to increase customer engagement and satisfaction. Overall, this study's objective is to provide insights into the potential of VR technology in the online retail industry and its impact on consumers' experiences and perceptions.
